If you deal with heavy periods on a monthly basis, you know first-hand how frustrating they can be. You spend five to seven days (or more) doubling up on pads, changing tampons or your cup every hour, bleeds that can soak through your pyjamas or even stain your bed sheets. It’s exhausting, annoying, and potentially embarrassing. You might think that this is NORMAL so you’ve resigned yourself to a week of misery of every month. But let me reassure you – this is definitely NOT normal!

When I treat a patient for a menstrual irregularity I aim for approximately 28 day cycles; no PMS (i.e. no headaches, bloating, lower back pain, breakouts, irritability or low moods – yes its possible!), moderate flow, bright red, no clots, and a bleed that lasts approximately 3 – 6 days with no spotting (i.e. small amounts of blood before your actual period starts).

A lot of females have never experienced this and if they have had terrible periods since menarche (when you get your period for the first time) you just accept it as “it’s just the way you are”. But with homeopathic medication, targeted supplementation, the correct diet (eating right for your hormones), lifestyle and making strategic changes will help you have healthier hormone balance and eliminate heavy bleeding for good.
