Ways to Improve Egg Quality when TTC

When you are ready to conceive, there are a few lifestyle changes one can make to ensure good egg quality and a healthy pregnancy. Have a look at my Top 10 Tips below:

️⃣ Optimal vitamin D levels can positively influence follicular fluid which is the fluid surrounding the ovaries and eggs and provides nourishment to the immature eggs. Vitamin D can also help to support fertilisation, implantation, lowering the risk of miscarriage and supporting IVF success.

️⃣ Protein is essential for egg and embryo development. Aim for 1.2g per kg of body weight daily.

️⃣ Take a quality prenatal supplement daily.

️⃣ Consume antioxidant rich foods

️⃣ Aim for at least 7 hours of sleep (in a dark environment)

️⃣ Prioritise daily sunlight exposure

️⃣ Lifestyle changes – stop smoking; reduce alcohol and caffeine consumption

️⃣ Minimise exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals

️⃣ Balance blood glucose levels with the correct diet – High insulin levels and blood sugar levels can impair mitochondrial function. Impaired mitochondrial function is problematic for egg quality.
