Recipe at the end 🍏
Estrogen excess can be described as too much estrogen in relation to progesterone, mainly in your luteal phase (the phase before your period and after ovulation). It is the most common hormonal imbalance in women.
In many of my previous posts, I explain why estrogen dominance is one of the most common ailments many women suffer from leading them to experience heavy painful periods, moodiness, bloating, fatigue amongst other things.
We love estrogen because makes it your skin glow and plump. It builds bone and muscle. It slows the aging process. It raises your libido and boosts serotonin (so essential for mood and sleep), but we don’t want too much of it because long-term estrogen excess (over years or decades) increases your risk of breast cancer, other female cancers, fibroids and lack of ovulation which can lead to PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids and infertility.
Think of them as internal clues from within that something is not right or could be improved.
This smoothie contains all the goodness you need to help estrogen be processed by the liver and eliminated from the body (in the stool) – helping you balance your hormones. This is great even if you don’t suffer with any menstrual issues or even are on the 💊
Drinking this AFTER ovulation (after day 14) is key because the body needs to get rid of excess estrogen at this time to make way for progesterone which is the
dominant hormone in the second half of your cycle.
(FYI you can drink it at any time in your cycle but you will reap the full benefit between days 14 – 21).
